Welcome to the Revitalized Back Street River Park!

Located behind Main Street, come and enjoy a walk along the Connecticut riverbank or join a game of kick ball every Monday through September at the multipurpose grass field.

Families can play the day away on the new playground and then picnic for lunch under one of the two shade structures, with the option for charcoal grilling close by. End the day building early literacy skills by walking the path and discovering a new story every month from April to October, page by page. Convenient trash and recycling receptacles can be found dotted through the park, and a portable toilet located near the dugouts ensures that you have all the amenities you need.

	…or try your hand at pickle ball!

Fitness enthusiasts can work in a set on the equipment located near the courts or go for a run on the town trail.

Needing a break from the day-to-day? Enjoy a scenic stroll along the river side and pause to take in the view from one of the benches. Dog waste stations make it possible for you to rest easy knowing you can bring your favorite companion to see the sights with you.

Continue your stroll all the way to the River Launch and Picnic Area to relax under the trees, or bring a kayak and your fishing gear to sink into meditation on the water

With parking available on both ends of the park and at the River Launch, as well as on Main Street, how can you say no to spending the day dedicated to recreation at the Backstreet River Park?

As a cooperative outdoor recreation project, possible in part through the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the park has seen so many improvements! See what the park used to look like below:

These improvements wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of people like you–just as keeping the park clean and in tip-top shape won’t be possible without your continued help and support. Please be sure to abide by the posted rules for the courts and make use of the waste stations to clean up after your day of fun.
