The boat launch area in North Stratford adjacent to the Backstreet River Park will soon be a station for the Life Jacket Loaner Program, allowing boaters to borrow life jackets for their trip and return them afterwards for others to use. Jenny Keazer of the Colebrook Kiwanis Club, is the local Life Jacket Loaner Program Chair and has reached out to various boating access points throughout the area to promote the program.
Since 2008, the Sea Tow Foundation has distributed over 106,000 life jackets to local businesses and organizations across the country. The life jacket loaner stations are in all 50 states and territories with locations where boaters will have easy access to the life jackets, such as boat ramps, marinas and parks. Boaters may borrow the life jackets at no cost and are asked to return them when they are finished so that they are available for others to use.
