The Energy Committee was formed when the Town started to look into joining the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire back in 2023. Members of the Committee represent the Town of Stratford in all Community Power matters.

Stratford Community Power

At the 2024 Town Meeting, voters adopted the Stratford Community Power Plan to become part of Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH). This means, the town can establish its own locally controlled electricity provider and take advantage of the collective buying power to drive down cost.

Since then, Community Power is the default energy supplier to electricity customers in the Town of Stratford, while Eversource delivers that energy to town’s households and businesses. Customers can opt-out at any time to sign up with a different supplier. They may also choose among various renewable energy products.

Member Communities
As of May 2025, the Coalition includes 64 municipalities and four county members across New Hampshire. CPCNH is managing energy supply and customer service on their behalf. The aggregate buying power creates competitive and stable rates for customers and allows communities to have a say in their energy future.
