October 21, 2025: Last week, the blue rubber surface was installed around the base of the playground modules with wood chips filling in the rest of the area. These young residents were among the first to test run the new installation and it seems to have passed muster.





The disturbed areas around the playground have been reseeded and are currently still blocked off to encourage new grass growth. The rain has started just in time! Please be mindful of those delicate areas.
Both the basketball and the pickleball courts have been re-surfaced and new nets are installed.

The new walking path along the river front and around the entire park area is making progress and nearing completion. Here’s a glimpse of what it looks like:

Backstreet River Park along the Connecticut River is undergoing a major revitalization this summer. The project is largely funded through state and federal grants, with part of the matching funds coming from two regional Tillotson Funds.
