A Level-2 EV charger located at the pavilion went online in May 2024, providing free charging for electric vehicles. It is one of only a handful of public charging stations in Coos County. The charger is powered by the 6 kw solar array recently installed on the pavilion roof, which also provides energy for the newly added heat pumps for the Library and Town Hall buildings.
The pavilion is a popular spot for summer travelers to stop for a picnic, so why not plug in during that time? Patrons of the Public Library can also make use of the charger, as could paddlers utilizing the nearby boat launch by the Connecticut River.
The Town of Stratford is continuing to invest in more energy efficient operations, as part of the drive to lower costs, lower its carbon footprint, and build a more resilient future. This most recent installation was paid for by the Solar Capital Reserve Fund.
